ACHIEVEMENTS OF MUSLIM SCHOLARS
Muslim scholars were hungry for knowledge and are the invertors of soap and ink. There is actually much more to these objects that we see in everyday life than we know.
They were also responsible for the creation of the Arabic numbering which is what we use today. Without this, there would be no computers. Another huge discovery made was the water wheel. This is what caused the first industrial revolution in the eighteenth century.
Astronomy was extremely important to the Muslims as they had to work out where each new moon would appear so as to plan their religious calendar. So of course, the Muslims scholars studied hard at this and built observatories on top of their houses so as to study this at the sight of the first star. They invented the Astrolabe which was small and portable. It’s purpose was to find out your position using stars. Imagine how many people would have been stranded if weren’t for this tiny instrument!
Being as curious as they were, Muslims wanted to find out as much as they could about the lands under their control and beyond. Geographers were encouraged by caliphs to find out more about these foreign places and share their knowledge through books.
Muslim scholars also allowed the birth of philosophy, which is what sometimes causes debate in the world. These early philosophers were ready to conquer the worlds’ biggest questions of life.
Muslims scholars have done so much to help the modern world. Imagine a life without soap, pens, computers, paint, glass, cameras and so much more.
